“You got one guy going boom, one guy going whack, and one guy not getting in the endzone.” ~ John Madden

Are you a football fan? We are at this house. I grew up during a time when there was only 3 channels on the television and we (my brothers and sister) were the remote control. My dad watched every sport that came on. We watched football, baseball, basketball, golf, tennis, boxing, and yes when there was nothing else, bowling. We were either going to be sports fans or be miserable. We are all sports fans.

The hubs and I are Raider fans. Don't hate!!! RAIDER NATION!

RAIDER NATION!

With the Super Bowl right around the corner, we are getting our menu ready. I love how the Super Bowl is becoming an important food event. We want more than just potato chips! Something that most people weren’t thinking about 10 years ago for Super Bowl is hummus, but now it has entered into our consciousness and is perfectly acceptable dip for football.

To go with the hummus, I make homemade pita chips. These are so easy and so much better than anything you can get from a bag.  I don’t just eat them with hummus; they are so good with the chili I prepared the other day.  I hope you give these a try. Go Team!!!

Ingredients (Serves 4)

2 Pita Breads
1 tbsp sea salt
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
Olive oil for drizzling

Instructions

Preheat oven to 450°.
Cut the pita bread in half to create 4 circles of bread.

PitaChips05
Mix together salt, cumin, and paprika.
Turn all the pita cut side up, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with the salt mixture. (Be careful not to over salt. You will not use the entire mixture.)

Cut the pita into eighths and place on a baking sheet.

Bake in the oven for 5 minutes or until crispy.

Enjoy!

I can identify! My sisters and I looked an awful lot like remotes, too! There were even times they’d call us from our bedroom, upstairs, to go down and change the channel! haha! Good times! These homemade pita chips look awesome, Tammy! I love their simplicity!

About Me

I love food! I read cookbooks like they were novels. I get giddy in a farmer’s market. I find a chicken in a pot surrounded by carrots, onion, and celery a thing of beauty. My favorite sound is Mmmmmmmm! Read More…
